The Little Engine That Could Earns Her Whistle - Queens Theatre
Add to Calendar 24-11-2013 24-11-2013 15 The Little Engine That Could Earns Her Whistle “I Think I Can, I Think I Can” are words that joyfully resonate in the hearts of children everywhere. ArtsPower’s The Little Engine That Could™ Earns Her Whistle tells the uplifting story of an ordinary train that performs an extraordinary feat of strength and courage. In this production, kids follow the adventures of The Little Blue Engine, who dreams of someday pulling the Piney Vale Express just like her best friend Rusty. To most of the other engines, the Little Blue Engine seems too small to make it up the big hill. She starts to doubt herself, wondering if she will ever be a real engine of the railroad. But when the fate of the Piney Vale Express suddenly depends on The Little Blue Engine, she finds out just how much she can accomplish with a little self-confidence. In the musical’s stirring conclusion, she conquers the hill and can finally exclaim, “I knew I could!”. Adapted for the stage by playwright and lyricist Greg Gunning and composer Richard DeRosa, ArtsPower’s The Little Engine That Could™ Earns Her Whistle is a story about finding strength from within and always believing that anything is possible, a theme that can always be found in these beloved books. http://www.nymetroparents.com/2014neweventinfo.cfm?id=146783 Queens Theatre true DD/MM/YYYY

Venue Description: Queens Theatre in the Park is located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park within the New York State Park Pavilion. Initially established as part of the Pavilion for the 1964 World's Fair, QTP was converted into a theater in 1972 and officially adopted its current name in 1985. Since its renovations in 1993, the theater took off as a venue for the arts under a mission to bring art that is challenging, broadening, and entertaining.

The theater's programming features diverse media and forms of art. The QTP hosts dance and theater productions as well as special programs, including those focused on multiculturalism. For children, the theater offers unique series and great deals on tickets. Additionally, the QTP has its own Arts-in-Education program that focuses on bringing art that educates and fosters curiosity in students in the local community. The CentreStage program, a subset of Arts-in-Education, allows students to create their own works of performance art under the guidance of professional actors.

The Queens Theatre is located at 14 United Nations Ave. South in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. For more information on events, pricing, and show times, call 718-760-0064 or visit queenstheatre.org.
