Description: This group was established in 1951. Its mission was (and still is) to collect and present folk music and folk dances from Hungary and Hungarian-inhabited areas, while wearing the traditional costumes of these regions. This extraordinary presentation features one of the highest regarded folkloric dance companies in the world. The company is accompanied live on-stage by both the Folk Orchestra and Gipsy Orchestra playing traditional Hungarian folk music at its highest artistic level.
Venue Description: For more than 45 years, Queensborough Performing Arts Center, located on the Queensborough Community College campus in Bayside, has served as an outpost of culture to its surrounding community. QPAC offers a central location near many local restaurants, making it an excellent destination for a family night out.
The center has both a professional and a children's series, providing programming for every age. The children's series is brought to the community in conjunction with a book club, a reading program that helps introduce young children to the joys of reading by staging the books chosen. The children's performances held at QPAC make for a great birthday party activity. QPAC provides a private location for lunch, discounted front-row seats, and a "Happy Birthday" serenade from the stage.
