When you're trying to lose leftover baby weight, sometimes diet and exercise just doesn't cut it. Now there's another option for painless weight loss: Glendale Dermatology in Queens is proud to announce the arrival of non-invasive CoolSculpting technology at their facility.

Glendale Dermatology now offers CoolSculpting, an innovative technology that freezes away fat painlessly, without surgery or needles. Dr. Ted Brezel, M.D. and his team is one of the first medical practices in the New York area to specialize in this breakthrough method at non-invasive fat reduction.

"CoolSculpting is an exciting new approach that has shown significant results in clinical studies for removal of fat without the potential risks and downtime of invasive procedures", said Ted Brezel, M.D. "I have found the procedure to be extremely effective, especially on resistant areas such as muffin tops, love handles and back fat. In addition, his patients have been surprised at how comfortable and that no anesthesia is necessary.

Cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), CoolSculpting by Zeltiq gently cools unwanted fat in the body thereby inducing a natural controlled elimination of fat cells. Based on science developed by at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass. This ground breaking procedure is based on a vast body of research that demonstrates that fat cells are more susceptible to cold and can be selectively, painlessly and permanently destroyed. Starting several weeks after the procedure, cooled fat cells begin a process called "apoptosis. Apoptosis is an ongoing natural biologic process, which the body uses to clear damaged cells. The fat will be eliminated much in the same manner that dietary fats are cleared. The removal of the fat and fat cells will eventually result in a reduction of the thickness of the fat in the treated area.

"The number of fat cells we have in our body are established during our adolescent years and are stable afterwards. Changes in body mass during our adult years are attributed to changes in fat cell volume not the development of new fat cells", says Dr Ted Brezel. Because the CoolSculpting procedure eliminates fat cells from the body, as long as patients maintain their weight by keeping to a healthy diet and lifestyle the results should be permanent.

"I'm very impressed with my results - particularly for a non-invasive treatment. Within several weeks of my first treatment, I noticed my fat in the treated area had lessened considerably and my clothes fit so much better", says Suzette Acevedo. "I highly recommend the CoolSculpting procedure, especially for people who have stubborn body fat that diet and exercise alone do not seem to help."

During the procedure, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to the treatment area thereby specifically targeting the fat. An average procedure lasts between one to two hours. Dr. Ted Brezel says, "unlike many other methods of fat removal such as liposuction, patients can resume their normal routine immediately after the procedure". On average, each CoolSculpting procedure results in a 20%-25% reduction of fat in the treated area. Patients can have additional procedures if more dramatic results are desired. Some patients will begin to see results as soon as three weeks following treatment, with the most dramatic results becoming apparent between the second to fourth month after the procedure.

Dr. Ted Brezel has been practicing medicine for over 20 years. Find out more
