The following charitable organizations are accepting donations throughout the holiday season for needy families in Queens.
FreeMAT Toy Drive

The New York Hospital Queens' voluntary organization FreeMAT (Freedom Medical Aid Team) will be holding its annual toy drive until December 15. Participants are asked to drop off new toys for children of deployed Army personnel from Fort Totten and other local reserve bases in the New York area. Operation Christmas Child
The organization invites residents in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Nassau County, Long Island, to fill shoe boxes with toys, school supplies, and necessity items for children in need to be distributed to eight million children all over the world, including victims of Haiti's earthquake and recent cholera outbreak.

In addition to its ongoing drive to provide international children with American toys, WorldPlay will be working with Safe Space this year to provide toys to the children participating in their programs. Taking place now through December 9, WorldPlay invites community members to donate new, unwrapped toys for children ages 0-12 in time for the holidays. All donations will be distributed to Safe Space's Maternal Child Health Care program. Drop toys off at WorldPlay or Safe Space, or simply send them in the mail. 114th Precinct's Annual Children's Christmas Party

The Precinct's Community Council will host its annual Christmas bash on December 4 from 9am to noon at Astoria Manor, where underprivileged children will receive toys, coats, and scarves. Community organizations, including Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens, will be donating funds to help make this event possible.
