Ice Investigation - Queens

  |  News & Tips

Ready for the first snowfall? Be patient – the conditions have to be just right. The interactive Crystal Winter Village at the New York Hall of Science returns this year with more demonstrations and workshops to teach children about the scientific formation of ice crystals. Participants will create different crystal patterns and experiment with touch to melt and then refreeze the ice, explore a model train display across a winter wonderland, take a motion simulator ride across glaciers, and discover the beauty of snowflakes under a microscope. A highlight of the Village is a giant snow globe that the whole family can step inside for a portrait. Weekends, November 23-December 21. Daily December 22-January 4; weekends 10am-6pm, Monday-Thursday 9:30am-2pm, Friday 9:30am-5pm. Closed Christmas Day. $11; $8 ages 2-17 and seniors over 62; FREE on Fridays 2-5pm and Sundays 10-11am.
