New Kids on the Block: New Shops and Centers in Queens

CUTTING IN ON FUN

A Queens mother of four has just opened Frankie’s Playce, a toy store with a haircutting salon at The Shops at Atlas Park. Frankie Janello, who lives in Middle Village, has created a fun environment where kids can play and get a great haircut.  The store has a full line of toys, with a focus on educational playthings.  There is also a special emphasis on ‘green’ toys that are environmentally sound; expect non-battery operated toys and toys made from sustainable resources.

You can get your locks trimmed in a taxi chair set in ‘Times Square’ or a red Porsche in ‘Hollywood’.  There are also regular chairs for kids who’ve outgrown the ‘play’ ones.

Janello is also working with girls from Sacred Heart, in Glendale, who are donating their hair to Locks for Love. For an appointment, call (718) 326-2023.

SHOP WHILE YOU CAN

Also at The Shops at Atlas Park, the website, www.artbebe.com, has a temporary bricks and mortar shop. Arte Bebé specializes in fashionable clothing and accessories for children.  Clothing is for babies through size 6, and there is infant and child bedding and toys. You can find soft blankets, colorful toddler dishes, hooded towels and decorative pillows. Arte Bebé also carries a small selection of items for grown-ups, including stationery and linens.

Frankie’s Playce and Arte Bebé are in The Shops at Atlas Park, 8000 Cooper Avenue, at the intersection of 80th Street, Glendale. You can continue to shop at Arte Bebé after mid-January via www.artebebe.com. Call (866) 434-2323 for more information.
