St. Demetrios Jamaica Day School and the community of St. Demetrios collected supplies, food, clothing, coats, blankets and many other items for the Hurricane Sandy victims. On Tuesday November 20th, 2012, the 7th & 8th Grade students learned a valuable lesson of “ Thanksgiving.” The students along with their Principal, Mrs. Evthoxia Panos, their teachers: Ms. Panagiota Tzorzis & Ms. Mary Cicero, faculty member Evangelos Pandermarakis and parents visited an area of Far Rockaway that was badly affected by Hurricane Sandy. The students, faculty and parents brought the supplies collected from our school to the victims and helped the National Guard distribute supplies to them. We spent four hours there helping out our neighbors in need.
