The Mystery of the Bones: Halloween is as good an excuse as any to think about bones and skeletons. Come to the Flat Rock Brook Nature Association to look at bones and learn what they reveal about what animals eat and how they live. Pre-registration by mail is required. Spooks: Rockland Lake State Park’s newly-restored nature center hosts a celebration for young "spooks." Children are invited to come in costume for a haunted trail, magic tricks, music, storytelling, a "creepy" science program, face-painting, crafts, a children's costume parade, and a bike ride around the lake. Spook-tacular Spiders: Learn about spiders before meeting a few impressively large live arachnids and making a spider craft to take home, at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum's Outdoor Discovery Center. $5. Haunted Were-House: Hudson Vagabond Puppets and the Gaga Arts Center have joined forces to present a benefit Halloween festival in the landmark brick factory turned arts complex in Garnerville. The festival will feature a haunted house, a Boo House for younger children, music, storytelling, pumpkin carving, hot apple cider, and holiday treats.
