JCC Rockland is adding a new feature to its facility: a pool. With the addition of the inground, heated outdoor pool, which is scheduled to be finished by the time summer camp rolls around, the JCC will be able to offer swim programs for its summer camps, as well as swim lessons for its pre-K program.

JCC Rockland has started to build a new 20-by-50 foot, inground, heated outdoor pool at its Lewis Family Playground. Other pool features include a concrete deck for lounging and a 4-feet-deep end for aquatic exercising. The pool, scheduled for completion by the end of June and in time for the start of the summer camps, holds incentives for both new and returning members.
“Every year parents tell us that they love our camp and they love our curriculum, but they really want swim,” says Josh Krakoff, chief operating officer of JCC Rockland, adding that it was sometimes hard to retain campers who were looking for a summer aquatics program.
With the addition of the pool, children in the JCC’s pre-K program will be able to take swim lessons and those enrolled in its numerous sports camps will be able to enjoy swim time. Adults will also be able to take advantage of the JCC’s new pool with classes such as learn to swim and senior aerobic, as well as open swim time for all members and their families.
