St. Patrick's Day may have a less-than-innocent reputation, but there are plenty of family-friendly ways to enjoy this holiday in Rockland County. Get the details on our top 5 Irish-inspired events for kids in your area below, then check out the rest of our picks for the month of March.
They say everyone's Irish on St Patrick's Day. Whether you agree or not, there are plenty of opportunities to connect with traditional Irish culture and celebrate the holiday this month:
March 5: At Glaze Art Studio, toddlers can listen to a reading of Clever Tom and the Leprechaun by Linda Shute and paint a pot-of-gold box.
March 11: Premier Irish-American fiddler Brian Conway, who has been called one of the best fiddlers of his generation, performs traditional Celtic tunes with a skill and grace all his own.
March 17: The talented and award-winning dancers from the McLoughlin School of Dance will perform in native costume then teach audience members a few fancy steps in a St. Patrick's Day Dance Performance.
March 18: Each year, Pearl River hosts the second largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the state (right behind the NYC parade, which is held March 17). This year is extra special, as the parade celebrates its 50th anniversary. Starts at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, 401 N. Middletown Road, Pearl River (from there, it heads down Middletown Road before turning onto Central Avenue).
March 21: Teen chefs can whip up a batch of traditional Irish Soda Bread then bring it home to bake (and share!).
