Picking the "right" Halloween costume is a big deal for kids, who have probably been thinking about what they want to be for Halloween since last year. Now that they've decided, take them to show off their costumes at some of the most fun, kid-friendly Halloween events in and around Rockland County, including a few across the border in Bergen County, NJ.

1. Halloween 'Dress Rehearsal' Party
Disney Store, Palisades Center, West Nyack
Oct. 18-19
Young trick-or-treaters are invited to come dressed as their favorite Disney character (or otherwise) for a special party and parade in advance of Halloween. Kids can also enjoy crafts and treats.


2. Munchkin Monday Halloween Event
Palisades Center, West Nyack
Oct. 21
A special Halloween party with the Bossy Frog band. Kids are encouraged to come in costume and there will be plenty of giveaways and candy handed out.

3. Too Cute to Spook
New Jersey Children's Museum, Paramus, NJ
Oct. 25
Tiny ghosts, goblins, and wtiches are invited to the children's museum for a Halloween pizza party full of dancing, trick or treating, pumpkin painting, and encounters with costumed characters, including princesses and superheroes.

4. Zoo Boo
Bergen County Zoo, Paramus, NJ
Oct. 25-26
The zoo opens its doors for trick-or-treaters and special night-time visits with the animals. Plus, take a ride on the Erie Express haunted train.

Nyack Halloween Parade
5. Halloween Parade
Main Street, Nyack
Oct. 26
Dancing ghouls, marching bands, stilt walkers, and puppets take the mainstage at Nyack's popular Halloween Parade. FREE!

6. Halloween Story Time
Barnes & Noble at Palisades Center, West Nyack
Oct. 26
Kids are invited to come in costume to listen to a reading of Go Away, Big Green Monster by Caldecott Award-winning author-artist Ed Emberley.

7. Halloween Parade
Monster Mini Golf, Nanuet
Oct. 27
Festivities include candy and Halloween bag giveaways. There will also be prizes for the scariest and most creative homemade costumes. For families who wish to stay and play golf after the parade, Monster Mini Golf features an interactive DJ who entertains the golfers throughout their stay.

8. Mall-O-Ween
Palisades Center, West Nyack
Oct. 31
Young trick-or-treaters can safely collect candy in the cozy comfort of the mall. Halloween photos will be available from 4-8pm in the H&M court.
