The NYMetroParents blogroll features the best blogs in the parenting world, from New York and beyond. Here's a closer look at why we love these mom bloggers and dad bloggers and how they're shaping the web for parenting today.
Blogging from: Rockland County
Rockland parents, if you haven’t met the Ludwigs (or really even if you have), be sure to check out their family blog, Love, the Ludwigs. The blog documents the “adventures in and around Rockland County” of the family of five. Mommy, also known as Sarah, is a teacher who has taught second through fifth grade, but now stays at home to spend as much time as possible with her kids. Daddy, or Adam, is a guitar-playing English teacher at the high school he attended as a teenager. Cole, whose full name is Nicholas Emmett, was born in August 2009 and began his blogging career shortly after in January 2010. Cole’s Internet presence has even expanded to include a Facebook page and twitter feed. In January 2012, Cole met his new baby sister, Lulu, who is actually Eloise Belle. The family would not be complete without Henry, their Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier who is 10 months older than Cole.
But don’t be fooled by Love, the Ludwigs because it isn’t just any average site. It really is a family blog as everyone in the family writes posts – even Cole and Lulu (via Mom Sarah). One of the highlights of the blog is the “Near Rockland Adventures” tab where Cole writes about the amazing places he has visited and the fun attractions at each location. Each post includes a number of pictures and full descriptions to help decide if something like the new Legoland Discovery Center at Ridge Hill or the Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Gardens would be a fun activity for you to do with your little ones.
Lulu does most of her posting in the “Our Week in iPhone Photos” tab. Each post includes a bunch of adorable photos of the family from the week with short captions for each photo.
Sarah recently wrote a post for our very own NYMetroParents blog about her sneak peak at the Dinosaurs After Dark at Field Station: Dinosaurs in Secaucus, NJ with Cole. The post gives details about the experience, and might be a good place to check out if you’re looking for some kid-friendly activities in the Secaucus area.
If you live in or near Rockland and have small kids, Love, the Ludwigs is a great blog with ample ideas for fun things to do with the kids and is abounding in cute photos of Cole and Lulu – you really can’t go wrong! – Melanie Shapiro
