West Rock Indoor Sports and Entertainment Complex opened its Tennis Academy July 1. The sports complex, which offers camps, birthday parties, and athletic classes, introduced its Tennis Academy to help children ages 4-18 excel athletically.
“The benefit of our tennis academy is that you are working with other students that want to reach similar goals,” owner James Miller says. “Playing in a group often motivates the players in the clinic to work hard.”
Adrian Contreras, the Tennis Academy’s director, hired an international group of professionals to teach the classes. These professionals teach the junior academy the skills they need in order to excel in tennis, both physically and mentally. The academy runs clinics Monday-Sunday, and private one-on-one classes are available. Keeping the players in shape is a priority—a two-hour minimum practice session is required five days a week. A fitness trainer works with the players to increase their speed and agility—an essential part of playing tennis competitively. West Rock Indoor sells athletic clothing, racquets, and accessories to convenience players and their parents.
West Rock Indoor also offers all-sports, lacrosse, and basketball summer camps, sports-themed and inflatable birthday parties, bar and bat mitzvahs, and soccer, basketball, and fitness training.
