Description: A 4-mile walk to support research to help understand and prevent premature birth and other serious problems that threaten babies. This year, more than 7 million people will join their families, friends, and colleagues in 900 communities across the nation. March of Dimes volunteers and staff encourage and support walkers in their efforts to raise awareness and funds. The money raised supports programs in the community that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. And it funds research to find answers to the problems that threaten babies. The walk has taken place since 1970, and has raised an incredible $2.6 billion to benefit all babies. The money raised funds important research and programs that help babies begin healthy lives.
