Description: Each spring and summer, the sanctuary searches for, traps, and releases turtles as part of its on-going turtle monitoring project. Learn about and take part in the effort to collect data from the painted and snapping turtles living in Bechtel Lake and the Box Turtles that live in the Wildlife Management Area. Meet in the museum and either hike down to the lake or carpool to the wildlife management area, dependent on which turtles will be studied. Please dress in long pants and close-toed shoes. Program will range from 1-2 hours in length and will be canceled in the event of severe weather. No RSVP necessary, but program will begin promptly at designated time.
