fireworks in Westchester CountyGrab a blanket or folding chair, a sweatshirt, some snacks, and a bottle of mosquito repellent, and get ready to celebrate our nation's birthday under the stars! We've mapped out this year's schedule of Fourth of July fireworks and festivities around Westchester County:


July 2

The Independence Day Celebration in White Plains is a fun-filled evening of entertainment, giant inflatable rides, food, and fireworks. 6-10pm. FREE. Raindate: June 29. White Plains High School, 500 North St., White Plains.


July 3

Pack a picnic and enjoy music and fireworks at the annual Kensico Dam Music Fest in Valhalla. A DJ will be spinning tunes at 6pm, followed by a big band concert at 8pm, and fireworks at about 9:20pm. Carpooling is suggested as parking is limited. FREE admission and parking. Kensico Dam Plaza, Bronx River Parkway, Valhalla.


The Town of Ossining will hold its Independence Day Fireworks, with entertainment beginning at 7:30pm and fireworks at approximately 9:15pm. FREE. Louis Engel Waterfront Park, adjacent to the Ossining Railroad Station, at Secor and Westerly roads, Ossining.


The Fireworks Festival at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers is an all-day FREE festival of music and fireworks. The Nerds will perform from 1-3pm followed by Parrot Beach from 4-6pm and NYC Swing Band from 7-10pm. Fireworks begin at 9:30pm (rain date for fireworks only is July 10 at 9:30pm).


Scarsdale holds its July 4th Fireworks Spectacular at the Scarsdale Municipal Pool Complex. Starts at 9:15pm; enter any time after 5pm. $2 entrance fee. 311 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.


July 4

At the John Jay Homestead's Independence Day Fair in Katonah, the festivities will include a reading of the Declaration of Independence, colonial games, sheep herding, beekeeping, and blacksmith demonstrations, crafts, hayrides, live music, and plenty of other activities. 11am-4pm. FREE admission, with some special activities available by ticket purchase. John Jay Homestead, 400 Route 22, Katonah.


A traditional Independence Day Celebration in Mount Vernon features music, speeches, refreshments, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and tolling of the historic St. Paul's church bell—13 times, once for each of the original colonies. 10:30am. FREE. St. Paul’s Church National Historic Site, 897 S. Columbus Ave., Mount Vernon.


Enjoy rides and a stroll on the boardwalk during the day, and fireworks at night at Rye Playland. 9:15pm start. FREE. Playland Amusement Park, Playland Parkway, Rye. (Note: Playland hosts fireworks displays every Wednesday and Friday night throughout July and August.)


Pops, Patriots and Fireworks make a perfect trio in Katonah. Watch a performance of The A Train to Harlem: Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, and the Harlem Jazz Craze. Performed by Janis Siegel, vocalist; Darius de Haas, vocalist; Jamie Bernstein, narrator; Westchester Jazz Orchestra; and Michael Barrett, conductor. . $30-$70; half price tickets for children. Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah.


….FREE fireworks displays will take place at dusk in three local communities on July 4.

The Village of Port Chester's Independence Day Celebration takes place at the high school's Ryan Stadium and includes a display by the famous Grucci family accompanied by entertainment from the well-known Port Chester High School Band. 1 Tamarack Road, Port Chester.

Dobbs Ferry's Thomas F. Cullen Memorial Picnic & Fireworks is a day of fun and excitement, followed by a night of fireworks. Parking can be difficult for non-residents, so plan to carpool or leave early. Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park, adjacent to the Dobbs Ferry Train Station.

Mamaroneck's annual Firemen's Fireworks Spectacular and Carnival begins at 7pm with a parade. Harbor Island Park, Mamaroneck Avenue South and East Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck.
