Occupational therapist Vincent Incognoli treats children using Dr. Lucy Jane Miller’s approach of intensive services.

Sensory Works Treatment Program in New Rochelle offers pediatric occupational therapy for children with sensory processing disorders, attention and concentration difficulties, gross and fine motor deficits, and balance and body awareness issues.

Occupational therapist Vincent Incognoli has been treating children for 10 years, but for the past few years his program has been modeled after Dr. Lucy Jane Miller's approach-one that focuses on intensive services. Miller is the founder of the first comprehensive Sensory Processing Disorder research program nationwide and has been researching SPD for more than 30 years.

Sensory Works Treatment Program in New Rochelle offers pediatric occupational therapy for children with sensory processing disorders, attention and concentration difficulties, gross and fine motor deficits, and balance and body awareness issues. Children attend the program three times a week for a total of 30-60 sessions. "It's about the intensity and the duration of the treatment," says Incognoli. "That's what sets this approach apart from others."

Incognoli started studying the model in 2007 when he participated in his first one-week mentorship program with Miller, followed by two more in 2009 and 2011. He learned the techniques he uses now from those programs. "She is the leading researcher in sensory processing dysfunction and I was honored to be personally mentored by her during my fellowship this summer," he says. "She is where the model is derived from. It's very all-inclusive...I want to see children functioning independently in all environments: at school, at home, with family. I want to increase the child's independence in his or her every day life."

Sensory Works Treatment Program is located at 3 The Boulevard, New Rochelle. For further information please call 646-210-3508.
