   Tree lighting traditions take place throughout Westchester county this month, with visits from Santa, carolers, and festive traditions:

                                         

Horace Greeley House, Chappaqua

Saturday, December 1, 4:30pm

   A special community tradition marks the beginning of the holiday season at the Horace Greeley House. Choral groups will perform holiday selections before a visit from Santa and the lighting of the huge spruce tree. (Snow date, December 2). (914) 238-4666; www.newcastlehistoricalsociety.org.

Celebrate Peekskill!

Saturday, December 1, 5pm

   The tree lighting in downtown Peekskill features a visit from Santa and holiday carolers, plus free hot chocolate and prizes for all. Larkin Plaza

  25-ft. tall holiday tree lighting as well as holiday music, candy canes, good cheer, and hot chocolate await visitors. Santa and Mrs. Claus are also expected to make their annual appearance.
