The walls at the Loft Artist Association are covered with paper for the Draw-On workshop, a family-friendly event co-sponsored by the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield. Art supplies are provided. All you have to bring is your imagination and creativity as you create your very own masterpiece on the papered walls. Artists from LAA will be on hand to answer questions and provide individual help. FREE!

Activities include a gallery hunt through the “Eggs-hibitions” exhibit and craft activities focusing on animals that hatch from eggs. Erik Callendar of Erik’s Reptile Edventures gives a presentation on live egg-laying animals and Bill Robinson presents a program on live birds of prey.

The Fairfield Museum and History Center invites children to visit for April Vacation Programs: Art for Everyone! during their break from school. Children ages 7-11 explore the museum’s latest exhibition featuring paintings of the Connecticut landscape and shore. Then they create an art project based on a particular theme.

The African Penguins at the Maritime Aquarium have been on exhibit over the last several years, but are leaving at the end of this month. Here’s your last chance to bid them a fond farewell (or hello if this is your first visit!). You’ll learn that penguins can be from temperate South Africa as well as the South Pole and while they may waddle awkwardly on land, they are graceful in the water and always come dressed ready for a party.

The Ridgefield Playhouse hosts this year’s Band Jam 2013 where the best middle school and high school bands compete before an audience and a panel of industry professionals.

With his gentle voice and clever, catchy lyrics, Raffi has entertained audiences of all ages since 1976 when his first album, Singable Songs for the Very Young first came out with favorites like “Baby Beluga,” “Down by the Bay,” and “Bananaphone.” Hear him in person at the Shubert Theater. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Centre for Child Honouring, a communications hub and training ground founded by Raffi to foster global awareness of children’s issues.
