Boys & Girls Club Raises $5,000 at Annual Memorial Fundraiser

An annual memorial fundraiser hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester raised $5,000 for the Chris Cutri Memorial Scholarship.

The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester (BGCNW) hosted its Fifth Annual Chris Cutri Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser November 23 at Teddy’s of Holiday Inn in Mount Kisco. More than 150 friends of Chris Cutri and BGCNW alumni attended, raising $5,000 for the Chris Cutri Scholarship Fund.

In 2001, BGCNW established the scholarship fund in memory of Chris Cutri, a former Mount Kisco resident and son of the club’s director of operations, Barbara Cutri. Chris worked part time at the Boys & Girls Club before passing away in 2000 at the age of 20.

Individuals have historically donated gifts to the club each year in Cutri’s memory, and in 2007 the annual Chris Cutri Scholarship fundraising event was established. Since then, the event has raised $35,000 towards the fund, and the scholarship has distributed more than $20,000 to help children attend the club’s after-school program.

“It is incredible to see the same faces return each year to support the club,” said BGCNW executive director Brian Skanes. “The event acts as both a reunion and a fundraiser, bringing old friends together for a good cause.”
