Merry-Go-Round of Memories

For many of us, carousels evoke positive memories of childhood. The whirling lights, flashing colors, piping organ music, giggling children, and galloping horses remind us all of a simpler time. This month, families can create new memories at Woodhaven’s Forest Park Carousel during An Evening Carousel Ride to End Alzheimer’s, which raises money for the programs and services provided by the Alzheimer’s Association’s NYC Chapter.

US Open Kids DayAug. 25

Tennis, Anyone?

Love watching Roger Federer, Serena Williams, and the rest of those racket-swinging athletes, but you couldn’t make the trip to Wimbledon this year? Not to worry, you can still score an ace. The US Open comes to Queens this month, kicking off with Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day, where children of all ages can participate in tennis clinics, play interactive games, check out tennis’ biggest stars up close and personal, and hear live music from up-and-coming acts. The performance lineup was yet to be announced at press time, but past performers have included Justin Bieber, Jordin Sparks, Demi Lovato, and the Jonas Brothers.
