The American Cancer Society (ACS) along with ENT and Allergy Associates will bring smoking education programs to four high schools in Queens and Long Island as part of ACS’s annual Great American Smokeout.
This November marks the American Cancer Society‘s 36th annual Great American Smokeout, an initiative with a mission to encourage smokers to kick the habit and prevent others from starting. As part of the initiative, ACS and ENT Allergy Associates (ENTA) have teamed up to bring smoking education programs to several local high schools tomorrow and Friday.
ENTA physicians will speak to teens about quitting smoking and the reasons why they should never start. In New York, presentations will occur at Bayside High School, Great Neck South High School, Garden City High School, and Calhoun High School. The program will also be presented in two New Jersey schools. Students will learn about the dangers of tobacco and its health effects on your body from an ENTA physician and about the power of tobacco company’s marketing initiatives from an ACS representative. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session in which the students can voice their questions and concerns about smoking.
