Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum Celebrates 30th Annual Fleet Week

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will celebrate the 30th annual Fleet Week, taking place May 23–May 28, with a week of activities, themed events and live demonstrations that celebrate the armed forces. Fleet Week is America’s premier tribute and “thank you” to the men and women who serve in the armed forces.

The Fleet Week activities will be held at the Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum and on Pier 86 (46 Street and 12 Avenue, Manhattan). Events on the pier are free and open to the public and vents inside the Museum are free with Museum admission.

Retired and active U.S. military and U.S. veterans receive free Museum admission with proper I.D.

The Intrepid Museum’s new exhibition ‘A View from the Deep: The Submarine Growler & the Cold War’, will be accessible to the public during Fleet Week. Located on the Museum’s Pier 86, this free exhibition tells the story of Growler, the only nuclear missile-launching submarine open to the public, and its pivotal role in the Cold War.

Each day of Fleet Week, the United States Marines will be on hand with hands-on demonstrations and activities and will be showcasing the equipment, clothing, and vehicles they use during active duty missions. Intrepid Former Crew Members will share stories throughout the Museum, live demonstrations will be presented by Intrepid Museum educators, and Fleet Week-themed Tour Guide Talks will take place on the hangar deck.
