The free tours – which will be offered on the third Thursday of every month – will highlight the energy saving and sustainability features of the facility, which include solar panels, a geothermal system, and a green roof. Local residents and businesses will have the opportunity to learn about the functionality and advantages of sustainable green structures and additional tours will be offered to elected officials, construction-related businesses, building owners, and management associations.

In May 2010, the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) certified the Media Arts Lab at the Gold level under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) classification, making it the first registered LEED Gold New Construction site in the County.
