Cho's Taekwondo, Greenwich, CTTaekwondo's New Home

Cho's Taekwondo in Greenwich relocated from the Western Greenwich Civic Center to its own space on Oak Street in early October. The move affords the center more space and visibility, says owner and instructor Michael Cho.

More than 70 students take advantage of the myriad of classes offered at Cho's Taekwondo. Programs are delineated by age group, starting with the Pee Wee Program all the way to the Teen-Adult Program. Classes in Kum Ye Do, a Korean sword martial arts, are also available for teens and adults.

Cho notes that his center offers year-round programs, something that sets them apart from other businesses. The opportunity for constant training allows children to develop strong bonds and connections as they continue with the center. With the ongoing commitment, children learn discipline and a sense of responsibility, Cho says. In short, the center offers a complete learning experience. "Kids want to learn how to defend themselves, how to be healthy, and then they also learn to be more respectful," Cho says.

Cho's Taekwondo is located at 5 Oak Street in Greenwich. For more information: 203-661-8611.

An All Natural Way to Lose Weight

The Sadkhin Complex of Connecticut, an all-natural weight loss center, opened in Wesport this summer. It is a franchise location of the nationwide chain of centers that use The Sadkhin Method® approach to weight loss, which is based on the hunger-control system founded by Dr. Gregory Sadkhin in 1989.

"Our program is designed to change people's eating habits and help them lose weight rapidly and safely," says Irina Gosh, franchise owner and certified Sadkhin practitioner. Gosh adds that most clients lose 5 to 10 percent of their body weight within the first 10 days of the program.

The program consists of two main elements: The first element involves the stimulation of biologically active hunger control points in the body through acupressure, which reduces hunger. The second element is a nutritional eating plan that works to rejuvenate the body, synchronize organ function, and balance the endocrine and nervous system. The diet plan is all natural, drug free, and does not require any special foods or products, Gosh says, which is what sets this weight loss program apart from others.

The Sadkhin Complex is located at 253 Riverside Avenue in Westport. For more information, call 203-557-9777.

The Field House will offer sports programs-including soccer, lacrosse, T-ball, flag football, and multi-sports classes-for all ages and skill levels, with a focus on athletes ages 2-12, says Deanna Spartachino, spokesperson. In addition to sports instruction (including classes, clinics, and programs), the center will offer field sport birthday parties, child and adult athletic leagues, and a full-day summer camp next season.

The Field House joins a host of family-friendly athletic centers at the Sportsplex, including Carabiner's Indoor Rock Climbing, the Gymnastics & Cheerleading Academy of CT, Fairfield Ice Academy, and World Champion Tae Kwon Do. Each of these centers offers a variety of fun and athletic activities for all ages. "We're like the Chelsea Piers of Connecticut," Spartachino says.
