“Azur & Asmar” follows the story of two boys raised as brothers who follow very different life paths.Plaza Cinema and Media Arts Center has started a new international film program for children. It launched on Feb. 18 and uses cultural movies to educate and engage students, promoting discussions about culture, heritage, family, and mythology.

The program gives children an opportunity to enjoy an animated movie, and uses it as a tool to talk about issues in the movie as well as everyday life. “We want the children to enjoy themselves and the magic of movies and be able to talk about them with their parents” says Catherine Oberg, managing director of The Plaza Cinema and Media Arts Center.

Before each movie is screened, parents are welcomed to visit the center’s website where they can find showtimes, trailers, recommended ages, and an option to reserve or purchase tickets.

Plaza Cinema and Media Arts Center is a cultural center that offers history and family values through film. The cinema shows a different movie every month on both Saturday and Sunday for families and children ages 4 and older. “This is a gathering place for movies, music, and issues,” Oberg says.
