P&G Thank You, Mom Campaign Helps Athletes’ Moms Attend Games

Procter & Gamble’s Thank You, Mom campaign celebrates Olympians’ Moms by putting them in the spotlight. The campaign helps offset the hefty travel expenses so Moms can go to London to support their children at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Olympian Ashton Eaton and his mother Roslyn EatonBehind every Olympian is a phenomenal mom, and Procter & Gamble wants the world to know with their P&G Thank You, Mom campaign. With Thank You, Mom, athletes like gymnast Shawn Johnson and decathlete Ashton Eaton are giving their moms a chance in the spotlight, and an invaluable gift. To offset hefty travel expenses, P&G is giving every mom of the nearly 800 Team USA athletes $1,000 to travel to London and experience the journey with their children. In addition to the financial gift, P&G will be sponsoring the Family Home—a space where athletes can meet up with family outside of the Olympic Village to decompress and get away from the chaos of competition. Laundry services, hair styling, and American cuisine will all be on hand. “They’re giving moms the opportunity to watch their children fulfill their dreams,” says Roslyn Eaton, mother of Ashton. “It’s agonizing to be away from competitions.” And it’s not just the moms who benefit from the company’s generosity. “I like to hug my mom after my meets—it feels great knowing I’ll have her there,” Ashton says.
