The Baking Coach Teaches Adults, Kids the Art of Baking

Lisa Basini, The Baking Coach, usually teaches people the art of baking in their own homes. With the opening of her new location in Port Jefferson, she now hosts adult and kid classes as well as birthday parties.

Baking Coach owner, Lisa Basini, and her daughter Ana; April BierLisa Basini opened The Baking Coach in 2005 as a baking instruction company. Instead of baking the products for the customers, Basini teaches customers how to bake the products on their own. Basini said the company’s main focus is teaching people in their homes.

“The best place to learn is right in your own kitchen,” Basini says.

The Baking Coach also has her own commercial kitchen in Huntington and hosts classes in libraries, schools, and other venues where people come together as a community. Basini began renting space in the Port Jefferson Village Center within the past year. At that location, she hosts birthday parties and adult and children’s baking classes. Basini expanded to Port Jefferson because of the following she already had there and for the convenience for her Nassau County customers.

Customers can choose from a variety of recipes and flavor combinations, including 16 cupcake flavors, 18 cookie flavors, breads, cookies, and more. The Baking Coach is available for baby and bridal showers, bachelorette parties, after-school workshops, and any other event that needs a sweet treat.

“People make their own [baked goods] and go home with them. They have a sense of accomplishment. They create memories and have the recipes,” Basini says.
