This year we have 60 exhibitors lined up, including a variety of sleepaway camps, day camps, and all kinds of creative niche programs. Art, music, theater, dance, sports, computer programming, cooking, rock climbing, engineering, game strategy, gardening, building, skateboarding, digital design, textile design, and language immersion are just a few of the offerings on hand. We've lined up some fun kids' entertainment and invited local food vendors to set up shop outside.

A Surprise Inside: Buildings with Secret Powers! - New York Transit Museum

Is it a school? Is it a library? No… it’s a Powerhouse! The 74th Street Powerhouse, built in 1902, is a quiet building on the outside, but on the inside, it once housed giant, noisy machines working night and day to create the electricity that powered elevated trains throughout Manhattan. The Museum will discuss the Powerhouse and other “superhero” buildings in New York City, and then make our own dioramas of “powerful” buildings. For ages 6 and older.

Registration for the winter session of Meet the Museum opens on December 13 and meets on Thursdays from January 9 through February 13. A program for the Museum’s youngest visitors and those who care for them, Meet the Museum provides toddlers with opportunities to experiment with and explore art and culture through song, gallery activities, and art making. Adult companions work closely with their children and discover creative and fun ways to interact. Early registration is encouraged; classes fill up quickly.

The Lefferts Historic House offers several activities for children during President's Day week. Come in From the Cold (1-3pm) offers great indoor playtime the way it was experienced during the 18th and 19th centuries. Kids can play Nine Man Morris and other games/activities. The 2nd Floor Tour (1-3:30pm) is a half-hour glimpse at artifacts from 19th century family walk.
