This is not about the final result but rather about taking time to look closely at works of art to get a better understanding of how the artist created them. Ben Schonzeit: Abstract Figuration Exhibit - Nassau County Museum of Art

Work by Ben Schonzeit, previously seen at the Museum in the exhibitions, Still Life: 1970s Photorealism and Garden Party, is featured in a solo exhibition that reveals an entirely different aspect of the career of this artist, who is a central figure in the American Photorealist movement. This is very different from the realist work seen in the concurrent A Feast For The Eyes exhibition. The Contemporary Gallery exhibition showcases Schonzeit’s collage and sculptural work — abstract figurations of human forms or portraits that give new life to his materials. Work by Ben Schonzeit has been seen in solo and group exhibitions throughout the U.S. and Europe and is widely included in public collections. A native of Brooklyn, he now lives and works in SoHo.

Reflection Study by Zachary Lieberman - New York Hall of Science

Reflection Study is an interactive artwork based on a series of software explorations of how light reflects and how visitors can paint with light by using different techniques such as refraction and caustics. A special light table has been created to allow for interaction, exploration and creation with light and shadow. Reflection Study has been brought to NYSCI by the Panorama Festival and is powered by HP. Zachary Lieberman is an artist, researcher and hacker with a simple goal: he wants you surprised. In his work, he creates performances and installations that take human gesture as input and amplify them in different ways — making drawings come to life, imagining what the voice might look like if we could see it, and transforming people’s silhouettes into music. He’s been listed as one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People and his projects have won the Golden Nica from Ars Electronica, Interactive Design of the Year from Design Museum London, as well as been listed in Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of the Year. He creates artwork through writing software and is a co-creator of openFrameworks, an open source C++ toolkit for creative coding and helped co-found the School for Poetic Computation, an experimental school exploring the creative possibilities of using code and electronics to make art.

Sky Zone Deer Park team members have been trained and certified by Missing Piece Awareness to be autism aware and accepting and special modifications have been implemented by the management team. On this day for children and adults with special needs, Sky Zone dials down the music, increases the staff ratio, and limits capacity. The Sky Zone team understands the need to provide families affected by autism with a recurring session time where individuals can learn the rules and practice them in a safe and comfortable environment so they can eventually generalize these skills and be fully integrated at any time. Takes place the first Monday of the month through June 2015.
