Alex Katz (b.1927) is one of the most important American artists alive today. The exhibition includes landscapes and collages from early in Katz?s career and continues through the 1960s and beyond with his hallmark paintings ? enormous, brilliantly-colored portraits of his family and friends. The exhibition draws on the Whitney?s large holdings and is augmented with works from NCMA?s own permanent collection and some on loan from other art institutions.
