The Amazing Work of Kokichi Sugihara - National Museum of Mathematics

Can a ball roll uphill against gravity? How can the reflection of a circle in a mirror appear as a rectangle? Is it possible that an arrow, when rotated 180 degrees, continues to point in its original direction? Join Kokichi Sugihara, Meiji University Distinguished Professor Emeritus, as he shares one incredibly impossible object after another. Prepare to be amazed as Dr. Sugihara demonstrates how his clever illusions fool the brain, and how math underlies the engineering of each paradoxical illusion.

The Film Festival is free. Tickets are not required. Gates open at 6:30 pm.

Summer Outdoor Movie Nights - Stuyvesant Square

Join Stuyvesant Park Neighborhood Association for the free outdoor summer movies. Come with your blanket and snacks to sit on the North Lawn in West Stuyvesant. There are also many benches that allow for comfortable viewing and wheelchair access.

Summer Streets - Between Brooklyn Bridge and Central Park, along Park Avenue and connecting Streets (as far as East 72nd Street)
Through August 17, 2019 - Manhattan

Summer Streets attracts 300,000 people over three Saturdays in August. Park Avenue and Lafayette Street are closed to vehicles for seven miles, creating car-free space from Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park. Activities are free and are designed for all people of all ages and abilities.

The Perfect Fit, the Musical - LaTea Theater

Rave Theater Festival: Sweet Lorraine - Teatro Latea

Sweet Lorraine is a dramatic interpretation of the final conversation had between best friends, Lorraine Hansberry and James Baldwin in Lorraine's New York City Hospital Room in January 1965. The play is set one week prior to Lorraine's passing from pancreatic cancer and explores the complex, dynamic and often heated relationship between these two prolific, creative giants and American Artists and Activists.

HUDSON RIVER PARK'S OPEN FIELD LAB - Hudson River Park: Pier 84

Explore HRPK Estuary Lab's current scientific research and monitoring efforts at these weekly participatory field labs. Take a closer look at plastic pollution in the River with microscopic exploration and learn more about our Park Over Plastic initiative. Assist in the ongoing biological survey of the Park's aquatic environment through oyster monitoring and collection of environmental DNA.

Topics will rotate from week to week, and will include microplastics, oyster restoration and environmental DNA. See dates below:
