Westchester’s Dr. Pete Publishes New Book

Dr. Pete Richel of Northern Westchester Hospital has published a new book all about baby’s first year, adding author to his list of titles that also includes pediatrician and singer/songwriter.

Dr. Pete RichelPeter Richel, M.D., Katonah resident and chief of pediatrics at Northern Westchester Hospital, has published a new book called Happy & Healthy: A Wellness Journal of Baby’s First Year (Lyons Press; $14.95), which outlines what parents should expect during their baby’s first year of life.

Dr. Richel, known as “Dr. Pete” to his young patients at the hospital, covers everything from growth and developmental milestones to what to expect during a visit to the emergency room.

Some questions explored in the book include:

– What should I expect from wellness visits?
– What questions should parents ask their pediatrician?
– What do I need to know about my baby’s feeding schedule?
– What are considered “normal” sleeping habits?

The book also features write-in spaces for parents to record changes in their baby’s height and weight, as well as notes from each doctor’s visit. Logs at the end of the book enable parents to keep track of immunization records, allergies and sensitivities, illnesses, and important contact information.

The book is available on Amazon.com.
