A Krispy Kreme Store Is Coming to Times Square in 2020

Donut connoisseur dreams are coming true–and there will be more to do than in a typical donut shop.

A Krispy Kreme store–above ground, unlike the one located in Penn Station that is the city’s only current Krispy outpost–is coming to Times Square in early 2020. The shop will be a 4,500 square foot giant flagship that will feature donuts, of course, plus an inside look at how the sugary pillows of dreams are made. The store will be home to the world’s largest Hot Light, signaling the donuts are available for purchase just a few feet away.

“Our direction is to be the most loved sweet treat brand in the world,” said Michael Tattersfield, CEO and president of Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation, in a statement. “In the most iconic city in the world, the Krispy Kreme Times Square Flagship will showcase our brand on the global stage and inspire customer wonder. We love making awesome doughnuts—and New Yorkers deserve hot and fresh doughnuts!”

The shop is set to open at 1601 Broadway at the corner of 48th St. and Broadway. Time Out New York has dubbed it “a Donut Duomo, if you will.” Inside the store, a “donut theater” will showcase how the treats are made, from the mixing of raw ingredients to the conveyor belt that carries them to a different station, to the literal waterfall of glaze that makes Krispy Kreme donuts the shiny sweet donuts craved by so many. The flagship will offer donuts 24/7, and guests can enjoy them from stadium-style seating that looks out over the donut theater. No time for a show? An exterior walk-up window lets guests order donuts to go.
