Changing Tomorrow Academy Preschool Coming to DUMBO in August

Changing Tomorrow Academy is scheduled to open in August.  The school will follow a Montessori-based program and offer childcare services for infants, toddlers and children ages 3 to 5. The curriculum will include age-appropriate programs in subjects such as dance and chess, and will feature an etiquette class designed to promote good manners and increase mental IQ.

According to education director Terrye Morgan, the school understands the struggle working parents have when searching for childcare. To help ease that burden, the school will have extended hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“One of the biggest concerns parents have is making it to work on time because most centers open at 8 a.m.,” Morgan says. “Those early morning and late hours will be a significant help to families.”

When it comes to nutrition, a catered meal program will give parents a variety of food plans to choose from. The owners of the school, Mars and Tim Iafiasov, are looking into a kosher program, which Morgan says is another incentive for parents.

“Lots of children have allergies, but then lots of the eating needs are family-specific depending on what the families’ needs are,” Morgan says. “The owners are really thinking about what the population and diversity will be like and they’re really trying to meet the needs of the families, trying to make it convenient for them not to have to participate in bringing meals, but to have a catered food program.”

Bonding classes such as Mommy and Me and Infant Massage, where parents learn how to strengthen their child’s social and emotional development, will be offered.

Located near several train and bus lines, the school will have the capacity to care for almost 200 children with educators and medical providers always onsite.

Registration is open. More information is available on the website.
