In Theaters Oct. 9: Pan

Parents need to know that Pan is a live-action origin story set during World War II about Peter Pan and Captain Hook. A band of pirates kidnaps an orphan (newcomer Levi Miller) and takes him to Neverland, where he must save the land from the deadly pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman). Given the popularity of recent adaptations of Cinderella and Maleficient, not to mention the world’s enduring fascination with the boy who won’t grow up, this non-musical retelling should be a perfect pick for families looking for a rousing adventure.
