The expansion of Cookies The Kids Department Store Jamaica location includes a second entrance located on Merrick Boulevard.

Cookies The Kids Department Store has six locations in Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx and aims to be a one-stop-shop for anything needed for a child. “Whatever you can ask for for a kid, we have it,” says Marvin Falack, vice president of the department store. Cookies’ Jamaica location recently underwent an expansion and nearly tripled in size.

The department store offers school uniforms, clothing, toys, furniture, and shoes and accessories for infants through teens, as well as communion and graduation outfits. With the expansion, the infant and layette, shoe, girls ages 7-14, and boys ages 8-18 departments all grew in size and are now able to offer more options in the brands it carries, such as US Polo, Disney, Nautica, The North Face, and Hello Kitty.

The store is still located in the same spot on Jamaica Avenue. There was a building next to the location that “we knocked down and redid. We built it from scratch,” Falack says. “We still have our front on Jamaica Avenue, and we have a large second front on Merrick Boulevard.”

While the Jamaica Avenue storefront is the official entrance, Falack says a lot of people are now coming in through the Merrick Boulevard entrance. “I guess because the bus depot is right down the block and the public car park is right behind us, so it’s quicker to get to [the Merrick Boulevard entrance],” he says.
