Usdan Summer Camp For The Arts’ Open House - Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts

What does it look like when you combine the freedom of summer, the beauty of nature, the unbridled joy of kids creating without fear of failure, inspiration and mentorship from teachers who are themselves talented art-makers — oh yeah, and FUN? Join us at an upcoming Open House and learn just how special a summer at Usdan can be. During each event, the campus is yours to visit and explore. Refreshments, information, and 2019 registration will be available throughout the day. Families who sign up for the 2019 summer at an Open House will receive a chance to “spin to win” merchandise or a tuition discount. Winston Preparatory School Open House - Winston Preparatory School

Winston Prep is a highly individualized and responsive setting for 3rd through 12th grade students with specific learning differences. The student body is comprised of students with language processing disorders such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities such as Aspergers, and executive functioning difficulties such as ADHD. The school's unique model of education for the individual provides intense skill remediation while encouraging students to build independence, resilience, responsibility, self-awareness, and self-advocacy. 'Junie B. Jones' - The Showplace at Bellmore Movies

Based on the award winning books by Barbara Peck, audience members will get a sneak peek into the "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal" of the outspoken and lovable Junie B. Jones! This delightful musical is brought to life in a genuinely comical (and not strictly-for-kids) fast paced production for the entire family. The show runs 50 minutes, followed by a meet-and-greet with the cast.

Just Moms - Sands Point Preserve

The Conservancy hosts "Just Moms", a weekly informational discussion group for parents of newborns to 12 months, created and facilitated by licensed therapists Amy L. Kates and Dr. Stacey G. Kaufman, who are also experienced moms. Inside the historic mansions, participants can meet fellow parents and share concerns during eight one-hour sessions. Parents are encouraged to register for all eight sessions, but are welcome to register for individual sessions. Although the program is geared towards mothers who are looking to connect with other moms in the area, fathers are welcome to join.

The weekly afternoon program provides both creative and social opportunities for 3- to 5-year-olds years as they explore art techniques through personal and collaborative projects. Using visual language to help familiarize children with the names of colors and shapes, the drop off-program was designed specifically for those about to enter pre-school allowing kids to gain confidence while attending classes on their own. 'Madagascar'– A Musical Adventure - John W. Engeman Theater

Converse, collaborate and create together during Family Sundays. Each week explore new art materials, vocabulary, and ideas in the studio with a museum educator. Family Sundays provide children and the adults in their lives the opportunity to take time from their busy lives to reconnect while talking about and making art together. New Projects are featured every week. All Family Sundays will draw inspiration from the current exhibition. Families can begin at 1pm  with a Tour in the Mansion or just drop in the studio between 1:30-4pm.

Rolling River Day Camp Prospective Family Day - Rolling River Day Camp

A unique opportunity for children to get a taste of camp while parents attend an interactive information session. Children ages 2-9 are treated to free camp activities including playground time, arts and crafts, gymnastics, Wii games or sports. Parents can focus on obtaining important camp information knowing their kids are supervised onsite by adult camp staff. All families who enroll for Camp 2019 that day will receive a free gift. You must pre-register to attend. Open House Days are 2/9, 3/2, 3/16, 4/13, and 5/4.

Spring Pysanka Workshops - Hallockville Museum Farm

Join instructor, Hannah Ritter, for the Spring Pysanka workshops, April 7th and May 5th! The Spring workshops will feature floral designs based on traditional motifs. Beginners will complete a Pysanka in approximately 2 1/2 hours. Several designs and color variations will be presented, and dye color choices will be available. Sessions will be suitable for both beginners and experienced eggers, and students can attend both sessions.

Listen up! The newest LICM traveling exhibit offers children the opportunity to see, feel and hear sound. Visitors will experience our sonic world while exploring 14 interactive learning stations. Children will discover key listening skills through the science of sound and hearing.

SAT & ACT Practice Exams - Sylvan of Huntington

Sylvan of Huntington will now be offering SAT and ACT Practice Tests every Saturday. If your child will be preparing to take their SAT or ACT exams this winter or spring, then what better way to start the process then by mapping out their strengths and weaknesses. Practice exams will run on Saturdays from 9:30-12:30 pm. Afterwards, families will be invited back to sit down with a director and get a detailed report which will analyze exactly how their child did and where they can improve. Sylvan offers prep programs year round for both the SAT and ACT and interested students can sign up for courses to help get ready for the big day.

Art Exhibit: May We All Grow Up to be Children - Sands Point Preserve

This magical exhibit features sumptuous illustrations by the noted British artist George H. Lewis and quotes drawn from the forthcoming book, The Boy and the Boy King, co-created by George Lewis and A.D. Lubow. The book and the exhibition touch upon the value of friendship, art, spirituality, nature, and childhood imagination, themes near and dear to the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy. It's a show your entire family can enjoy together.
