Children will hunt for eggs according to the following age group categories: 3 years & under (with one parent) 10am; 4 years 10:30am; 5 years 11am; 6 years 11:30am; 7 years 12pm; 8 & 9 years 12:30pm. Children can also enter a jelly bean guessing contest. Prizes will be awarded in each age group. Children should bring their own baskets to gather eggs. Hampton Ballet Theatre School Presents Spring Ballet Performance of 'The Littlest Mermaid', 'Les Sylphides' & 'Mendelara' - John Drew Theater at Guild Hall

The Hampton Ballet Theatre School (HBTS) will present an eclectic mix for their SPRING 2019 ballet performance.  The  mixed program will include “Les Sylphides”, “Mendelara”  and the “Littlest Mermaid”. “Les Sylphides” is a short non-narrative romantic ballet, a “ballet blanc” originally choreographed by Michael Fokine with arresting music by Frederic Chopin. “Mendelara” is a modern ballet en pointe and is staged for the Professional Level 7 students of HBTS. The “Littlest Mermaid” is a ballet originally conceived and choreographed by Director Sara Jo Strickland  and  it will feature all the students of the Hampton Ballet Theatre School as well as  guest artist Nick Peregrino . The whimsical costumes are  designed  by Yuka Silvera, luminescent lighting is designed by Sebastian Paczynski and a seaworthy set design is by Miss Strickland. Children from age 3 on up to adults will delight in watching  the romantic “Les Sylphides,” the modern, en pointe dancing of “Mendelara,” and the adventures under the sea in the “Littlest Mermaid”.

Listen up! The newest LICM traveling exhibit offers children the opportunity to see, feel and hear sound. Visitors will experience our sonic world while exploring 14 interactive learning stations. Children will discover key listening skills through the science of sound and hearing.

What You’ll Do:

•    Test your lung power in the Scream Chamber! •    Create your own movie soundtrack  •    Conduct an orchestra with your whole body •    Learn about the anatomy and physics of how we hear. •    Explore decibels, amplitude, pitch and sound waves.  •    Find hidden “animals” in kitchen cupboards by listening (no peeking!)  •    Discover ways you can protect your hearing.

SAT & ACT Practice Exams - Sylvan of Huntington

Sylvan of Huntington will now be offering SAT and ACT Practice Tests every Saturday. If your child will be preparing to take their SAT or ACT exams this winter or spring, then what better way to start the process then by mapping out their strengths and weaknesses. Practice exams will run on Saturdays from 9:30-12:30 pm. Afterwards, families will be invited back to sit down with a director and get a detailed report which will analyze exactly how their child did and where they can improve. Sylvan offers prep programs year round for both the SAT and ACT and interested students can sign up for courses to help get ready for the big day.

This magical exhibit features sumptuous illustrations by the noted British artist George H. Lewis and quotes drawn from the forthcoming book, The Boy and the Boy King, co-created by George Lewis and A.D. Lubow. The book and the exhibition touch upon the value of friendship, art, spirituality, nature, and childhood imagination, themes near and dear to the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy. It's a show your entire family can enjoy together.
