Rockefeller Center's annual open-air farmers market returns this summer with a wide variety of specialty products from regional farms spanning New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Vermont.

Shoppers will find fresh produce, flowers, meat, eggs, baked goods, cheeses, wine, spirits, and more. Additionally, special programming and demonstrations will take place each Thursday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The market is organized by GrowNYC and is free and open to the public. Rave Theater Festival: Sweet Lorraine - Teatro Latea

Sweet Lorraine is a dramatic interpretation of the final conversation had between best friends, Lorraine Hansberry and James Baldwin in Lorraine's New York City Hospital Room in January 1965. The play is set one week prior to Lorraine's passing from pancreatic cancer and explores the complex, dynamic and often heated relationship between these two prolific, creative giants and American Artists and Activists.

HUDSON RIVER PARK'S OPEN FIELD LAB - Hudson River Park: Pier 84

Explore HRPK Estuary Lab's current scientific research and monitoring efforts at these weekly participatory field labs. Take a closer look at plastic pollution in the River with microscopic exploration and learn more about our Park Over Plastic initiative. Assist in the ongoing biological survey of the Park's aquatic environment through oyster monitoring and collection of environmental DNA.

Topics will rotate from week to week, and will include microplastics, oyster restoration and environmental DNA. See dates below:

Revolutionary New York Walking Tour - City Hall Park

Unlike Philadelphia or Boston, New York’s Revolutionary Era is hidden behind modern buildings and obscure signs. We’ll uncover layers of history to reveal the Patriot/Loyalist conflict within New York as the nation was only beginning to develop. We’ll visit the site where the Declaration of Independence was first read to a New York audience, we’ll see the graves of Revolutionary War General Richard Montgomery and first Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton, the site of President George Washington’s Inaugural Address, Fraunces Tavern and the target of the Stamp Act mob in Bowling Green.

Learn about Hudson River Park’s wildlife by joining knowledgeable naturalists on guided nature walks throughout the summer along the Park’s esplanade.

Each nature walk is unique and offers a one-of-a-kind treasure hunt-like experience. Park Naturalists will meet participants at the Christopher Street Fountain, just north of Pier 40 at 9 a.m. sharp. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Loud noises and barking tend to startle wildlife and reduce viewing opportunities - please be considerate and leave your dog at home.

SummerStage 2019 - SummerStage in Central Park at Rumsey Playfield

City Parks Foundation is thrilled to announce the 2019 season of Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage, New York City’s largest free outdoor performing arts festival, bringing nearly 100 free and benefit shows to Central Park and 17 neighborhood parks throughout the five boroughs. This year’s festival will showcase 200 renowned artists and rising stars from around the world to local neighborhood parks, presenting distinctly New York genres -- salsa, jazz, and hip-hop -- alongside indie, reggae, Afrobeat, soul, contemporary dance, and much more.

Capital One is the festival’s new multi-year title sponsor (Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage) and its official bank and credit card. A presenting sponsor since 2015, Capital One has helped SummerStage bring more than 500 artists to 800,000 audience members in parks all around New York City. The Family Day concert will be held in Central Park on July 14 at 3:30pm.

Since 1957, on Saturdays during the summer, New York City's children have clustered around Hans Christian Andersen's statue near Conservatory Water in Central Park to hear his and others' fairytales, folk stories, and stories, told by a dedicated group of professional storytellers. Children are asked to sit with parents or guardians. Storytellling is held rain or shine.

Touch volcanic rock (lava from New Jersey!) and examine rock crystals under a microscope.

Stargazing - The High Line

Head to the High Line each Tuesday night for a romantic walk along the park and a chance to take a closer look at the stars. Peer through high-powered telescopes provided by the knowledgeable members of the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York to see rare celestial sights.

Stargazing at the High Line takes place every Tuesday, beginning at dusk, between Tuesday, April 2, and Tuesday, October 29.

'The Wizard of Oz': A Jazz Musical for All Ages - Harlem Rep/Tato Laviera Theatre

"The Wizard of Oz: A Jazz Musical for All Ages," with its timeless score and eternal allegories, is a magical experience for young (and young-at-heart) audiences.
