Celebrating 20 years of evening film screening, Movies with a View attracts tens of thousands of people each summer to the waterfront park. The 2019 theme: Better the Second Time Around.
Sweet treats, savory snacks, and drinks, including beer and wine, are available for purchase, thanks to a partnership with Smorgasburg - including cheeseburgers and crab cakes from Burger Supreme, Belgian-cut fries from Home Frite, pizza from Wood Fired Edibles, and homemade ice cream from Bona Bona Ice Cream. Food options rotate throughout the season, with new concessions added every week! In addition to food, each night also includes pre-show music sets spun by Brooklyn Radio DJs, and short films curated by Bamcinématek.

Featuring Brooklyn's finest yoga teachers, Prospect Park Yoga gives attendees a chance to try free, outdoor group yoga classes in a low-pressure, beautiful environment. ColorLab public programs explore a unified theme. Educators facilitate 45-minute sessions that include individual and collaborative art-making inspired by Muse Artists. In each session, educators guide young artists and their families through the exploration of themes, techniques, tools, vocabulary, and materials related to each Muse Artist’s process.
The three program seasons for 2019 include: The Future Is Now (spring/early summer), Color.Spot.Light. (summer/early fall) and Listen Up (fall/winter).

Fishing Clinics - Brooklyn Bridge Park

Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy (Conservancy) and Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) are offering over 500 free and low-cost events over the course of the summer, which marks the 20th Anniversary of the Conservancy's free, public programing in BBP. This summer, the Conservancy is proud to announce the launch of brand-new Fishing Clinics for kids and adults. Participants can learn how to tie fishing knots, bait a hook, cast a fishing rod, and even reel up a fish. Guided by a marine biologist and expert anglers, they will learn the basics of line fishing, while catch-and-releasing some of Brooklyn Bridge Park's aquatic organisms. The clinics are produced in part by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, and equipment is provided on-site. While sessions are drop-in, participants are encouraged to RSVP on the website so that instructors can gauge flow.
Public Art: Bridge Over Tree - Brooklyn Bridge Park

The newest Public Art Fund installation, Iranian artist Siah Armajani’s Bridge Over Tree, is now open at Empire Fulton Ferry Lawn.
Armajani’s artwork features a 91-foot-long walkway with a set of stairs that rise and fall over a single evergreen tree, inviting us to experience the idea of a bridge in a new way.
Green Team 2019 - Brooklyn Bridge Park

Green Team provides essential horticultural care to the Park, including planting, mulching, and removing invasive plants. Green Team is a wonderful opportunity to learn about gardening, enjoy nature, and make the Park look its best.

All volunteers must fill out a waiver and bring it to their first volunteer activity in the park. Volunteers 18 years old or younger should submit their waiver signed by a parent or guardian before any activity begins; volunteers 16 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No experience necessary.

New York Road Runners Open Run - Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 6

Open Run is a new community-based initiative that empowers local volunteers to bring free weekly runs to local neighborhood parks all over NYC. All runs are directed by volunteers and are free to all participants. The finish line is open until the last person is done. The courses vary based on park, but they are between 2½-3 miles.
Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the run and to leave their valuables at home as bag check is not provided. No need to do anything before the run, just show up. Open to all ages, experience levels, walkers, strollers, dogs: All are welcome.
