SLEEPING BEAUTY BALLET - Tanner Park Bandshell

The ensemble dancing by younger students is choreographed by Svetlana Caton.

20th Annual Riverhead Railroad Festival - Railroad Museum of Long Island

Join with the Railroad Museum of Long Island as it inaugurates steam operations of the H. K. Porter 0-4-0 steam locomotive, the “Roy Dunwell” No. 1.  Its firebox dark since 1999, this Southampton, NY steam locomotive has been restored by the Strasburg Rail Road Company for the Museum and registered and permitted by the State of New York to operate. See the locomotive run in place on its specially made tractor trailer, view blacksmithing demonstrations, see a historic steam engine, (driven by No. 1’s boiler), operating a steam hammer in the blacksmith shop!

Refreshments available and music 12-3pm each day. Try your hand at the toy train locomotive races, toy train switching puzzle, railroad related vendors, and more.

PEACH FESTIVAL - Harbes Family Farm

It’s the 30th Anniversary Season of Harbes Family Farm in Mattituck. As part of their season-long festivities, they’ll be holding Harbes Annual Peach Festival. Who will be crowned Harbes Peach King and Queen? Join the farm for one of the free peach eating contests to find out! They’ll be hosting two competitions daily in the central courtyard area. All ages are welcome to participate. Free live music will be available in the courtyard/picnic area to entertain you both days from 1-5pm. Singer/songwriter Rorie Kelly is scheduled to perform Saturday. In this interactive piece, audience members become active in the storytelling as they use props and their imagination to help the mice.

The exhibition will highlight Sartore's images from his work in more than 250 zoos, aquariums, and animal rescue centers around the world. Founded by Sartore in 2006, the National Geographic Photo Ark aims to document event species living in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, inspire action through education, and help save wildlife by supporting on-the-ground conservation efforts. National Geographic is showcasing this important project through multiple platforms, including this exhibition, to inspire people not just to care, but also to help protect these animals for future generations. In addition to creating an archival record for generations to come, this project is a hopeful platform for conservation and shines a light on individuals and organizations working to preserve species around the world.
