Family Sugar Maple Tapping Experience - Trailside Nature Museum, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation

Bring your family or a group of friends to learn the ins and outs of maple sugaring. This is a one-on-one event and times must be reserved in advance. Fee is $50/group and includes tapping experience, a bottle of maple syrup once the season has ended, and a souvenir photo/frame.

'Dancing Lessons' by Mark St. Germain - Arc Stages

Arc Stages to present Dancing Lessons by Mark St. Germain, beginning February 1. Pleasantville, N.Y. —Pleasantville theater company Arc Stages presents Dancing Lessons to continue their fourth season for their professional company, the Next Stage. This follows the successful run of Forbidden Broadway earlier this year. The Next Stage focuses on showcasing new, innovative work by a wide variety of exciting and talented writers. It is the third wing of a company that also includes a thriving Educational Stage and Community Stage. Performances will be held at Arc Stages, located at 147 Wheeler Avenue in Pleasantville NY. Winter Wolves - Wolf Conservation Center

Winter offers families a unique opportunity to visit the wolves during their favorite time of year. Learn about the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families and discover why this season is such a magical time for packs in North America. Whether the wolves are living on the Arctic tundra or the woodlands of the southwest, wolf families are out searching for prey as their maturing pups experience their first winter season. Guests will visit Ambassador Wolves Alawa, Nikai, and Zephyr as well as potentially behold the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves. Guests will enjoy hot beverages in our woodstove-heated classroom. Please dress for COLD weather.

Westchester Children's Museum Pop Up Shop - Westchester Children's Museum

The Museum is partnering with Melissa & Doug Toys and Scattered Books of Chappaqua, NY, to offer a colorful, vibrant, enriching selection of toys and books for infants through middle school-aged children. All the books and toys will reflect the Museum’s own goals of encouraging play and imagination, critical thinking, problem solving, and fun. 

A portion of the proceeds from sales from the shop will support the Museum’s educational programs and exhibits. The shop will feature a range of books curated by Scattered Books, from touch books for our youngest children to chapter books for middle school readers. The toys selection offered exclusively by Melissa & Doug will range from child-scaled grocery stores to the puzzles, toys, and imagination-building playsets that the company is known for. 

The Pop Up Shop is a pre-cursor to a permanent gift shop planned for the expansion of the Westchester Children’s Museum, with construction set to begin in early 2019.
