Through Bay Buddies series, caregivers and children 3-5yrs. will have an opportunity to discover and learn about elements of the marine environment through sensory activities, art + science projects, stories and more.  Pre registration for this series is requested. 'Little Red Riding Hood' - BroadHollow Theatre

Little Red is wondering why life isn’t more exciting, while Granny shows up in search of the Wolf. The Wolf enjoys being evil, and loves little children (on whole wheat toast). When Granny has an accident, Little Red sets out to deliver dinner to her. She goes through the woods, where she encounters a variety of forest creatures including, of course, the Wolf, who discovers her destination and arrives at Granny’s house before she does. He locks up Granny and lays a trap for Little Red but the Woodsman arrives in time to save her.

LEGO CLUB - Children's Museum of the East End

Join CMEE every Sunday any time between 10am and noon for Lego Club at the Museum.  Children are encouraged to create original designs and can leave their works-in-progress and plan future sessions with the staff.  The museum has thousands of Lego, but can always use more. 'My Fair Lady' - BayWay Arts Center

When Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady opened on Broadway, it collected six Tony Awards, including best musical, while the film version took home eight Oscars, including Best Picture. Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady is that rare musical by which all others are measured. The tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady features one of musical theatre’s greatest scores, including: “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “With a Little Bit of Luck,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”

16th Annual Holiday Train Show - Transit Museum Gallery Annex & Store, Grand Central Terminal

Go home each week with new vocabulary and new tunes to enhance communication between you and your child! Whether you intend to incorporate sign language in your life for the long term or simply during this pre-verbal/developing verbal time, watch in awe as your child discovers the world of language. See the research come to life, as music and sign language both aid in the development of language and literacy. Baby Fingers programs incorporate the research supporting the benefits of sign language at all ages and stages, for children with and without special needs. Stories, songs, games, and movement to music are included in our teaching methods. This "Sign & Song" class is open to ALL children and their families, aged birth through 5 years old. 

 

Public Ice Skating - Wollman Rink

Ice skating out in the crisp city air with an amazing view of the Manhattan skyline is a classic NYC winter experience. And Central Park's famous rink is a tourist favorite, but completely worth doing even if you are a local. There is also a skating school, a hockey program, and birthday party offerings on the ice. Check out the nearby carousel for $3 a ride in between skates.

'Paper Medium Rare: All Things Paper' - Nassau County Museum of Art

During this workshop series, teens will receive hands on training in basic artistic processes that can be translated into practical job skills. Based on current exhibitions in the galleries at Nassau County Museum of Art, these workshops will encourage participants to explore different methods of art making and design and how a museum can be a resource for creative inspiration. Students with autism will have the opportunity to apply their artistic skills and functional academic learning in a real world setting, while preparing to transition to after school life.

Andy Warhol Art Exhibition - Hofstra University, David Filderman Gallery

This original exhibition of works by Andy Warhol, a major pop artist and art celebrity of the 20th century, includes a selection of his screenprints and photographs from the Hofstra University Museum Collections. By juxtaposing his photographs with his screenprints, the exhibition contextualizes and reveals his working methods and artistic process. As a participant in the Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program since 2008, the Museum has received donations of 153 photographs (Polaroids and gelatin silver prints) and nine screenprints from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Inc. Funding has been provided by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

Winter Playdate On The Farm - Suffolk County Farm and Education Center

This Early Childhood Classroom is toasty warm and filled with lots of things to play with, craft supplies to use, and fun activities to discover. Get your friends together or come and make some new ones. Take part in some child guided exploration. Activities include, free play, access to a variety of art and craft materials, sensory stations. If the weather allows, there will be a visit with the animals and a wagon ride. Seal Walks - Jones Beach State Park, Field 10

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is pleased to announce that Jones Beach State Park will be offering a series of walks to see wintering seals January through March. A State Park naturalist will lead visitors on an hour and a half leisurely beach walk to an area where up to four species of seals can be observed. Along the way, there will be opportunities to see many winter birds and to explore marine geology. Please dress appropriately and wear comfortable footwear for hiking. Binoculars are recommended. Meet at the Jones Beach Field #10. Reservations are required and will be accepted beginning two weeks prior to each date. Space is limited. Program fee is $4 per person. If you are unable to keep your reservation, please call and cancel so that others may have the opportunity to attend. Latecomers will forfeit their reservation. Seal Walks - Montauk Point State Park
Through March 31, 2018 - Montauk

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is pleased to announce that Montauk Point State Park will host a series of walks to observe wintering seals. Beginning in December and continuing through March 2018, a State Park naturalist will lead visitors on a leisurely beach walk to an area where up to four species of seals can be observed. Along the way, there will be opportunities to see many winter birds and to explore marine geology. The walk is approximately 3 miles long and will take 2-3 hours to complete. Participants are asked to dress appropriately, to wear footwear appropriate for hiking, strollers are not recommended and to meet at the Montauk Point Lighthouse Grill and concession stand 10 minutes prior to the start time. After School in the Arts - Theresa Academy of Performing Arts

The Theresa Academy of Performing Arts, a beautifully unique program for children and young adults with special needs, announces its fall lineup of after school programming. An array of subjects are being offered after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays, including art, music, drumming, yoga, and Zumba. Classes are small in size, and taught by passionate, talented, certified teachers. Each student receives individual attention and also has a one-on-one buddy. Typically-developing siblings and friends are welcome. Classes begin on Wednesday, September 13th. Registration is ongoing and we offer a new student discount. 'Conquest of the Skies 3D' - New York Hall of Science

Marvel at homemade gingerbread houses made entirely of edible gingerbread, royal icing and candy. The houses are drafted, designed, baked, planned, built and decorated by creator Jon Lovitch over the course of an entire year. GingerBread Lane has won the Guinness World Record for 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 for the largest gingerbread village. Lovitch’s creation will again contend for this year’s Guinness World Record. Closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Meditation for Kids - Kadampa Meditation Center Long Island
