Summer Concert Series - Westchester Band

This year is the 50th Season of the Westchester Band. The Westchester Band will be holding free concerts in Chase Park over the summer. In case of rain, the concerts will be moved to the Scarsdale High School Auditorium at 8:00pm. Alan Hollander will be conducting the band for his 19th year. The band is comprised of students, amateurs, and professional musicians. They will play a wide variety of music such as major classical works, opera, Broadway show tunes, movies, popular, rock and roll, big band, jazz, Name That Tune, and more. Bring a picnic lunch and prepare for a night of amazing music!  All shows at Chase Park Scarsdale, except July 2 concert at 7:30 at Scarsdale Pool Complex (311 Mamaroneck Rd, Scarsdale, NY 10583).

The 2.5-hour Marine Life Encounter Cruises reveal what is, to many, a surprising diversity of marine life just off the shores in Long Island Sound. Aquarium educators put participants to work in collecting and examining animals from all levels of the water column: tiny wriggly plankton gathered at the surface (and viewed on a large monitor via a videomicroscope), little crabs and worms grabbed from the muddy bottom, and a variety of fish, crabs, squid, mollusks and surprises brought up in a trawl net.

Summer Sounds Concert Series - Hudson Park

New Rochelle's historic Hudson Park will once again be filled with the "sound of music" as the New Rochelle Council on the Arts presents its annual summer concert series. The Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series will enter its 12th season with an eclectic lineup of musicians performing everything from mellow jazz to classical opera to Latin, Motown, reggae and even a little "yacht rock." This year the summer season opens with Forever Ray, a tribute band that performs the exciting and uplifting music of Ray Charles-  a wonderful blend of styles ranging from jazz and blues to country and R&B. In all, music lovers will get to hear exciting live music on 10 consecutive Wednesdays, plus five Friday concerts in July and August.

Maritime Aquarium Norwalk Islands Cruises - Maritime Aquarium

Enjoy a narrated evening cruise around the Norwalk islands. These two-hour outings with aquarium educators will offer information and tales about Shea, Chimon, Tavern, and other islands just off the Norwalk harbor, as well as about the three lighthouses that the cruises will pass: Pecks Ledge, Greens Ledge and Sheffield Island. They’ll also point out waterfowl and provide details about the Sound’s marine life. Primarily, though, the cruises are a nice evening boat ride out onto the Sound. Food and drink is not available for purchase on the boat. You may bring food and beverages in a small bag or soft-sided cooler. Glass bottles are prohibited

Sunset Jazz Concerts Thursday Evenings - Lyndhurst

Relax on Lyndhurst’s great lawn and enjoy cool music by hot jazz artists! The grounds open at 4:00 pm, music begins at 6:00 pm. There is a $5 per person parking fee. The site is also accessible by walking the Old Croton Aqueduct trail. Dogs are allowed on-leash. Concerts are on the west lawn overlooking the Hudson River. Rain call made by 3 pm and announced online and on Facebook. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or low-profile lawn chairs and may bring or purchase a picnic supper on site.

Kids channel their innate curiosity and creativity and as they learn about the native plants of Brazil and become inspired plant lovers and designer-artists like Burle Marx: in the Children’s Adventure Garden, they can start their own indoor garden by potting up a fantastic philodendron plant, design a playful sculpture inspired by the bold colors and geometric shapes used by Burle Marx, and compare plants growing in the Bronx and Brazil to understand more about plant diversity.
