Enrichment Tinkering Workshop - Prospect Park Zoo

Don't miss this popular annual Halloween event. This year the focus will be on bats, from around the world and right here in Brooklyn where the zoo is working to understand their local ecology. The weekend will be jam-packed with fun activities such as a scavenger hunt, face painting, and other Halloween-themed games and crafts. A Spooky Barn will delight the older kids and there will be sea lion training sessions during the day complete with a kid-friendly dance party.

POP N’ LOCK DANCE MACHINE Catshrine Karaoke for the movement-inclined. This fun-filled installation allows participants to select their dance, choose some animated backup performers, and put on a show to the hottest tunes. EXP. INST. RAIN. Balam Soto Part instrument and part installation, this tactile experience gives users an opportunity to “play” sound and light together by touching different points on a wireless cube.

Immigrants: The Roots of Innovation - Conference House

Conference House Park will combine 18th century life with 21st century entertainment as it hosts this annual event. There will be a re-enactment of the Sept. 11, 1776, conference attended by Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Edward Rutledge and British Adm. Richard Howe in an attempt to end the Revolutionary War. Among the other attractions from the 18th century will be spinning and weaving demonstrations courtesy of the Staten Island Hand Spinners and Weavers; wood crafting; quilting; canoeing; calligraphy; tin smithing, and colonial tailoring.

'Conquest of the Skies 3D' - New York Hall of Science

Marvel at homemade gingerbread houses made entirely of edible gingerbread, royal icing and candy. The houses are drafted, designed, baked, planned, built and decorated by creator Jon Lovitch over the course of an entire year. New York Road Runners Open Run - Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 6

Open Run is a new community-based initiative that empowers local volunteers to bring free weekly runs to local neighborhood parks all over NYC. All runs are directed by volunteers and are free to all participants. The finish line is open until the last person is done. The courses vary based on park, but they are between 2.5-3 miles. Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the run and to leave their valuables at home ? bag check is not provided. No need to do anything before the run, just show up. Open to all ages, experience levels, walkers, strollers, dogs: All are welcome.
