Primitive Living Skills - Children Session: Bow and Arrow - The Nature Place Day Camp

The Nature Place Day Camp’s Primitive Living Skills is an immersive, hands-on (and hands-in—the fire pit, the dirt, the stream) program, designed to build a foundation in wilderness skills. Created especially for children ages 10-14, participants in this session (part 1 of 2) will learn all about the art of the bow and arrow and its uses for survival. Gain new skills, feel comfortable in nature, and make new friends.

Primitive Living Skills Family Session: Bowl and Spoon Making Part 1 - The Nature Place Day Camp

Primitive Living Skills is perfect for families wanting to connect with each other as well as with the earth. This series covers the foundations in a fun, family-oriented way—perhaps even inspiring you to ditch the tent and propane tank on your next family camping trip. This particular session (part 1 of 2) is all about making our very own bowl and spoon using a 'coal burning' technique. This is also a great opportunity to make new family friends that share similar interests!

Disney Junior Dance Party On Tour - New Jersey Performing Arts Center

This dance party performance will feature live appearances by Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Vampirina, Elena of Avalor, Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, Puppy Dog Pals, and Fancy Nancy. Audiences will also experience magical on-screen moments with Muppet Babies and the Lion Guard.

Rubach Family Purim Celebration - Kaplen JCC on the Palisades

Bring your children in their favorite Purim costumes to enjoy junior bounce and moon bounce, slides, games, prizes, life-size cartoon characters, snacks, and more. Celebration opens at 12pm for families with children with special needs. Suggested entrance donation: $1 per person or non-perishable food item to be donated to the Center for Food Action. Skip the line and buy ticket cards in advance! Ticket cards are $25 each and includes 30 games or rides. Cards may be split across a family, so your purchase is per card, not per person. Some games can earn prizes at the game, and larger games count towards the prize room prizes. Cards may be picked up at the Rubach Family Purim Carnival from a dedicated line.

Winter Weekend - Storm King Art Center

Enjoy access to Storm King during the off-season during this March Winter Weekend. Explore the sculpture and grounds in the brilliant winter landscape. The Winter Weekend is an outdoor event. Please plan to spend the majority of your time outside and dress appropriately for the weather. The Docent Guided Highlights Tour departs at 1pm in front of the Museum Building. Tram tours will operate from 12–3pm every hour, weather depending. Trams will not run if there is ice or snow on the ground. Food services will be available from 11:30am–3:30pm inside the Museum Building

The Rockland County Ancient Order of Hibernians St. Patrick’s Parade Pearl River will be taking place in Pearl River on St. Patrick’s Day, rain or shine.The parade leaves from the Pfizer parking lot, turning east onto E Crooked Hill Road, turning south onto N. Middletown Rd, turning west onto E Central Ave turning south onto South Main Street, and ending in the area of the Pearl River Post Office.

Rockland Center for the Arts kicks off its 2019 exhibition season exploring the power of art to transform and heal with Spirit of Being. How can art be used as a healing tool? Is it in the stillness in a piece of artwork that we find a spiritual awakening that heals our soul or gives us a clearer vision of why we are here? Spirit of Being, uses the power of beauty to present the spiritual in art through visual and meditative experiences. Many people find a healing through spirituality, but is spirituality just a religion or is it connecting to our higher self or soul through creation, such as the senses, dance, nature, art. Join artists Colette Fu, Garam Lee, Mark Weiss, Robyn Ellenbogen, and Paula Kovarik as they present the spiritual through art. RoCA’s programs are made possible, in part, with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

Quantum Connections, the works of Daniel Martin Diaz, opens February 17th. This exhibition engages the senses and ask: What does it mean to be a human being? In these fast-paced times of technology how do humans seek to connect to their own being or spirituality or to heal? Daniel Martin Diaz has an insatiable curiosity to explore the mysteries of life and science. His work is immersed in scientific and philosophical concepts, such as Anatomy, Computer Science, Math, Cosmology, Biology, Quantum Physics, and Consciousness. Maple Sugaring - Tenafly Nature Center

Learn how to identify a maple tree. Discover the history of syrup making and how technology has changed the way we gather sap over the centuries. The group will check Tenafly Nature Center's tapped tree and boil down sap to make fresh, warm maple syrup, a sweet treat for all to taste. All ages are welcome.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. Rain or shine. Dress warmly; the program will take place indoors and outdoors. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Children under 2 are free. No strollers, please.

This program is designed for people who are beginners, interested in trying snowshoeing as a new winter activity. Each session will be run by a Sam’s Point employee who will provide instruction on how to properly wear and adjust the snowshoes, as well as work with you until you are ready to head out on your favorite trail with confidence. The lesson may last up to one hour. Snowshoes are available to rent for this program at a discounted rate of $5 per person at the Sam's Point Visitor Center.

'Elemental Forces' Exhibit - Rockland Center for the Arts

Identifying renewable energy sources is an important issue facing humanity going forward. It is a task requiring the collaboration of scientists, entrepreneurs, businesses, governments and consumers. How can the artist play a role in advancing the emergence of renewable energy? How can artists help inspire dreams of what might be and work towards a better future? This public art exhibit invited artists to create sculptures using renewable energy utilizing solar, wind, and geothermal to the potential of alternative energy. These sculptures set in The Catherine Konner Sculpture Park harness a component of renewable energy.

Artists include: Professor Robert Dell, Jeff Kahn, James Murray, Aurora Robson, Peter & Cassie Strasser, and Chuck von Schmidt.
