As their search for her continues through the years, Rapunzel grows into a smart, lovely young woman locked away in Dame Gothel's tower. The real adventure begins when the Prince and his silly sidekick, Charlie, find the tower in the woods. And, in true fairy tale fashion, everyone lives happily ever after! Directly following the performances there will be a meet and greet and photo opportunity with the cast members.

Artist and Adelphi University Professor Kellyann Monaghan leads a Monotype print workshop for adults utilizing the theme of the urban landscape. After exploring the work of artist John Sloan, participants visit the Museum’s galleries to create preliminary sketches which will then be transferred to Plexiglas plates, inked and printed.

The Science Playground - New York Hall of Science

Museum Makers: Designing With Data - New York Hall of Science

Marvel at homemade gingerbread houses made entirely of edible gingerbread, royal icing and candy. The houses are drafted, designed, baked, planned, built and decorated by creator Jon Lovitch over the course of an entire year. GingerBread Lane has won the Guinness World Record for 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 for the largest gingerbread village. Lovitch’s creation will again contend for this year’s Guinness World Record. Closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Converging Voices: Gender and Identity Exhibition - Hofstra University Museum

Hunting the Whale: The Rise and Fall of a Southampton Industry - South Hampton Historical Museum, Rogers Mansion
Through December 30, 2017 - Southampton

This interactive and inclusive exhibit adds new discoveries to the accumulation of documentation and artifacts collected over more than 100 years to illuminate Southampton Village's prominent role in the whaling industry at its mid-19th century height. Whaling tools, maps, illustrations, archival images and text will be displayed with an eye toward making the exhibit accessible to audiences of varied interests and all ages. Among those whose roles will be highlighted are local indigenous people, slaves, servants, whaling captains, and the families that were sustained by the whaling industry. This exhibit takes place inside the historic Captain Albert Rogers Mansion, a 20 room Greek-revival house was built in 1843 during the peak of the whaling industry. It was built by Captain Rogers was one of the many prosperous whaling captains living in Southampton during the 19th century. Opening Reception: Saturday, March 4th 4-6pm.

Sky Zone Cares - Sky Zone Deer Park

Sky Zone Deer Park Indoor Trampoline Park will be opening on the first Monday of each month exclusively for jumpers with special needs. Sky Zone Deer Park team members have been trained and certified by Missing Piece Awareness to be autism aware and accepting and special modifications have been implemented by the management team. On this day for children and adults with special needs, Sky Zone dials down the music, increases the staff ratio, and limits capacity. The Sky Zone team understands the need to provide families affected by autism with a recurring session time where individuals can learn the rules and practice them in a safe and comfortable environment so they can eventually generalize these skills and be fully integrated at any time. Takes place the first Monday of the month through June 2015.

Trinkets, Treasures, and Trade - Rock Hall Museum

Join Dutch historian and Curator Arthur Kirmss for a tour of this exhibit which comprises an array of 17th Century and 18th Century European and native houshold, personal, and trade items and tools. These objects describe aspects of colonial and native life in early New York. Reservations requested.

Public Ice Skating - Wollman Rink

Ice skating out in the crisp city air with an amazing view of the Manhattan skyline is a classic NYC winter experience. And Central Park's famous rink is a tourist favorite, but completely worth doing even if you are a local. There is also a skating school, a hockey program, and birthday party offerings on the ice. Check out the nearby carousel for $3 a ride in between skates.

Ice Skating Season - The Rink at Rockefeller Center

The new season opens with this ceremonial first skate hosted by the reigning Olympic Ice Dance Champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White. Youth skaters of Ice Theatre of New York and Figure Skating in Harlemwill join for this celebratory session. 

The Rink at Rockefeller Center is always the first New York rink to open each year and is open to the public daily from 8:30am-12am, from Columbus Day to Easter. First designed as a temporary attraction, The Rink has evolved into one of the city’s most legendary landmarks and one of the most visited sites in Manhattan.

 

After School in the Arts - Theresa Academy of Performing Arts

The Theresa Academy of Performing Arts, a beautifully unique program for children and young adults with special needs, announces its fall lineup of after school programming. An array of subjects are being offered after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays, including art, music, drumming, yoga, and Zumba. Classes are small in size, and taught by passionate, talented, certified teachers. Each student receives individual attention and also has a one-on-one buddy. Typically-developing siblings and friends are welcome. Classes begin on Wednesday, September 13th. Registration is ongoing and we offer a new student discount.
