Exploring Play: Let's Fly! - Westchester Children's Museum
Through November 30, 2018 - Rye

Children will name all things living and non-living that fly, read a story, and then pllay a movement game “flying” where the leader names something that can fly and “landing” when they hear the name of something that can’t fly. After a song everyone will make their own airplane picture to take home.

Family Saturdays @ The Lab - Jacob Burns Film Center

Come for fun hands-on activities and a family-friendly shorts program featuring recent student work and festival favorites. Bring the whole family and enjoy watching, animating, and coloring together as we celebrate young filmmakers. Activities take place upstairs in the Jane Peck Gallery. 'Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle' - Lyndhurst Mansion

It’s Christmas at 221B Baker Street and you’re following Sherlock Holmes (Tal Aviezer) and Dr. Watson (Michael Muldoon) on a trip through Victorian London (played by the inimitable Lyndhurst Mansion), on the trail of a classic mystery. Together with the famous detectives, explore the mansion room-by-room, as you are drawn deeper into the secrets of the Blue Carbuncle. Appropriate for school-age children and up.

A Creative Moment - Ruth Keeler Memorial Library
Through December 13, 2018 - North Salem

Come together and share a moment with other creative individuals. Bring your own project to work on or open one of the library’s Art Boxes for an easy, self-directed project. Work in family groups or with a group of friends. This is a great opportunity for families to spend some quality time together. School age children should come with an adult. Attend every week or periodically when available. There are plenty of supplies on hand on the Art Cart as well as some coloring books in case you want a calm, meditative task. All are encouraged to share their work in a fun, supportive atmosphere. Facilitated by Jen Armbruster and Debbie Rizzo, one or both of whom will be available each week to answer questions, provide suggestions, offer feedback, or organize an exhibition of the work in a Library display case.

Bruce Beginnings, Jr. - Bruce Museum

A welcoming and engaging museum experience for toddlers, ages 10-24 months, and their caregivers, through hands-on play and exploration. Sessions are inspired by the museum’s collections and exhibits.

Free with admission, but space is limited.

Baby Moves! - Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum
Through December 18, 2018 - Poughkeepsie

This program features parent-baby dance time, simple baby games to play, and songs to sing. Each week focuses on different sensory activities such as parachutes, balls, scarves, and rattles. Participants will also learn and practice different baby sign language signs each week.

Toddler Time - Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum
Through December 19, 2018 - Poughkeepsie

This morning playgroup program features circle time with stories, songs, movement, and sensory play. This class is designed for early walkers and toddlers (children ages 12 months to 36 months) and their parent/caregiver.

LIVE! At 650 Lee - Jefferson Valley Mall

'A Christmas Carol' - Westchester Broadway Theatre
Through December 23, 2018 - Elmsford

"PHANTOM" was written by Arthur Kopit, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston who were the Tony Award-winning collaborators for the Broadway Musi­cal "Nine".  "PHANTOM" is not to be confused with Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera", which is currently running on Broadway. Both shows are based on the same Gaston LeRoux novel, with the Webber extravaganza being more like an opera, compl­etely sung. The Yeston/Kop­it "PHANTOM" is more of a traditional Broadway Musical with dia­logue and songs throug­hout.

The story revolves around the central character of a man named Erik, (also known as the Phantom) who was born and raised in the cata­combs under the Paris Opera House. Through a series of circum­stances, he takes on as a pupil a young woman named Christ­ine, who has been a street singer. She has a natural talent and a beauti­ful voice, but she lacks the special training to perform in an Opera company. He agrees to take her on as a student with certain condit­ions, the main one being that she will never see his face. After a lot of hard work she eventually auditions for the company and is not only accepted but is given the oppor­tunity to play a principal part in an Opera. Without realizing it, they fall in love with each other. The rela­tionship becomes obsessive and impossi­ble, leading to a stunning conclusion which can only be experi­enced by attending a live perfor­mance. 

Photos with Santa + Free Gift - Cross County Shopping Center

Visit Santa for photos and a free gift. Santa will be available for photos and visits at his winter home, located between Gap and Bath & Body Works. Reservations available, but not required. Throughout the season there will also be a pop-up holiday ice skating rink, a tree lighting celebration, and Cocoa & Carols with Mrs. Claus.

Santaland - Macy's
Through December 24, 2018 - Midtown

An annual tradition for so many families, visiting Santaland at Macy's means entering a fantasy world of glittering pine trees, snow-capped mountains, twinkling lights, cuddly animals, and gingerbread cookies. The 13,000-square-foot Christmas Village is filled with holiday treasures, the biggest of which is Santa Claus himself. After meeting Santa, guests can buy a photo package with images taken by on-site staff. This year, visits are by reservation only.

Join for Gan Shabbat, a program of children’s Sabbath services for nursery school age students and families.This interactive introduction to Shabbat songs, stories, and prayers takes place in the synagogue library for toddlers up to grade 2. A Magical Christmas Eve at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum - Lockwood-Mathews Mansion

Curated by Trustee Mimi Findlay and the LMMM Curatorial Committee, the exhibit will capture the enchantment and excitement of the night before Christmas and explore Christmas Eve as it was celebrated by the Lockwood and the Mathews families. The Mansion will also feature 21st-century holiday decorations with magnificent trees and seasonal displays by Trustee and renowned interior designers Victoria Vandamm of Vandamm Interiors, Marcia Taylor-Reid of Taylor Reid Design, and Danna DiElsi owner of The Silk Touch, who will adorn the Herter Brothers’ grand Victorian staircase with white poinsettias and shimmering gold and silver garlands.

27th Annual Holiday Train Show - The New York Botanical Garden
Through January 21, 2019 - Bronx

The New York Botanical Garden’s Holiday Train Show will showcase Lower Manhattan— the birthplace of New York City—in the 27th year of this beloved tradition. Enchanting model trains will zip through a display of more than 175 New York landmarks, including the Woolworth Building, One World Trade Center, the Battery Maritime Building, and the Terminal Warehouse. This year, for the first time ever, the Holiday Train show will feature replicas of two vintage ferry boats from the 1900s.
