Wilderness Survival Workshop - Tenafly Nature Center

Participants in grades 5 through 12 will be dropped off as children but leave as junior wilderness survival experts! This is a 5-hour, drop-off program that will cover 3 important survival skills;  Cordage (rope-making), fire starting and debris shelter building. Students will be guided through these skills as well as instilling an appreciation of the land. Students should wear sturdy closed toed shoes, bring a lunch & a change of clothes.  This program will take place outside, please dress for the weather.  Program will take place rain or shine.  Registration is required.

Healthy Kids Running Series - Bryan Elementary School Field

The Healthy Kids Running Series is a five-week running program for kids from Pre-k to 8th grade that provides a positive, educational, and fun experience in the world of running. Aimed to combat the increasing rates of child obesity in America, this running program motivates kids to be healthy and active and provides a fun environment to improve their self-esteem. Each Race Series takes place once a week and offers age appropriate running events including the 50 and 75 yard dash, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the one mile run. Kids compete each week of the Series for a chance to earn points and at the end of the Series the top boy and girl with the most points in their respective age division will receive a trophy. It does not matter how fast or slow one runs as all participants receive a medal and gift bag for their achievements, courtesy of our sponsors! The commitment is just under an hour during the period of 5 Sundays, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Please join us as we encourage our kids to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle, help increase their self-esteem, and make new friends!
